Singapore Pools – A Company for Good

A well-managed pool is an inviting place for guests to swim. It should be clean, offer a variety of aquatic activities and provide an environment that is welcoming to guests with disabilities. It should also be a safe place to play for children. Providing amenities like slides, trampolines and playground equipment can help build a loyal customer base for the pool. Placing an emphasis on customer service and inviting guest feedback will further entice customers to patronise the pool. Automating tasks such as water and equipment monitoring can help to reduce labor costs and keep pool maintenance staff free for more important matters.

Singapore Pools has long been a company that aspires to be a “Company for Good”. Leveraging its IT capital and expertise, the organisation launched iShine Cloud in 2018, which is an IT solution for other charities to leverage. iShine Cloud provides other charities with a secure and integrated suite of charity-specific solutions, which improves the productivity, governance and efficiency of operations, thereby allowing them to focus on better serving their beneficiaries.

In addition to its products, Singapore Pools also places a strong emphasis on responsible gambling and offers 24/7 customer support. This helps to ensure that gamblers are treated fairly and with respect, promoting responsible gambling practices. Singapore Pools is a member of the World Lottery Association and adheres to strict operating standards, as well as offering players peace of mind that their money is safe.

The company has a large portfolio of lottery and gaming products, including Toto, Singapore Sweep, 4D, sports betting and horse racing. Toto was first launched in 1968, followed by 4D in 1986 and then sports betting in 1999. These products are offered to citizens of Singapore, as well as to expatriates living in the country.

As a company, Singapore Pools is committed to helping disadvantaged families, youth-at-risk and the elderly, and conserving the environment. Its staff are encouraged to volunteer and participate in community activities throughout the year. The company recently supported Project Green Shoots, a community development initiative for low-income families in Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng. It donated S$122,500, with the Ministry of Social and Family Development matching it on a one-for-one basis.

Singapore Pools participated in a webinar on 25 September, organised by Empact Singapore and the National Council of Social Services, to discuss issues related to sustainable volunteerism during and beyond the COVID-19 crisis. Its Director of Community Partnership and Communications, Chin Sau Ho, led the discussion alongside three other panelists from Samaritans of Singapore, Action for Aids Singapore and HOME. The webinar was held online, with close to 200 virtual attendees.
